The UN Millennium Development Goals

The 8
Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were agreed to by all the world’s countries and leading development institutions, an unprecedented effort to meet the needs of the world’s poorest, all by the target date of 2015.

  1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
  2. Achieve universal primary education
  3. Promote gender equality and empower women
  4. Reduce child mortality
  5. Improve maternal health

  6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases

  7. Ensure environmental sustainability

  8. Develop a global partnership for development

The Blue House Connection

St. Matthew’s Pledge Benefits Blue House.
Learn how a St. Paul church is helping the Blue House meet some of the Millennium Development Goals, supported by the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota.

Major non-profits and religions have also made commitments to the Millennium Development Goals, as described below. But YOU can make a big impact for one small organization with a direct donation to Hope Multipurpose, Inc.
  • ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty History, over 100 of America's most well-known and respected non-profit, advocacy and humanitarian organizations committed to the MDGs.

  • The Episcopal Church: ONE Episcopalian, Episcopal Relief and Development, and Episcopalians for Global Reconciliation
  • The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America: ONE Lutheran and Millennium Development Goals Tool Kit
  • The Union for Reform Judaism: The resolution Ending Global Poverty parallels Judaism’s own commitment to tikkun olam.
  • The Catholic Campaign Against Global Poverty of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholic Relief Services
Does your organization or faith community want to support the Millennium Development Goals? Consider supporting the Blue House to make a significant impact in the lives of its children. For more information, contact Marilyn Grantham (651 644-5422 or m.grantham@comcast.net). We can make a presentation on the Blue House at your house of worship. Or donate today.
