Statement of HMI current position

HMI has set aside financial reserves of $45,000 for operations into 2010.

As of December 2008 we've raised $85,000 for the Capital Campaign to build the new Blue House.

Most funds are kept in insured, interest bearing bank accounts in the U.S.

Goals for the Capital Campaign
-
To raise $30,000 by December 1, 2008 for construction funding (completed). This amount has been matched by a $30,000 Challenge Grant from Discussion Club Friends.

To raise the remainder of construction funding for Phase One, about $15,000, by December 31, 2008.

To raise an additional $10,000 to $15,000 for furnishing the new Blue House by June 1, 2009.

Future financial goals

To maintain expanded operations at the new Blue House, moving from support for 12 girls to support for 40 to 44 girls.

To continue to support the education of the girls at an appropriate primary or secondary school. (Test scores determine eligibility.)

To pursue funding for three to five additional dormitories, a primary school and a maternal/child health center, all to be built on the new Blue House site.
