Visitors to the Blue House
| Dr. John Wathum-Ocama, of the US board, spent most of summer 2009 in Uganda on behalf of HMI. He checked on the girls' welfare, made connections with the local community, and facilitated the preconstruction process. He secured permits, contracted with a local builder, and visited the property with the architect and builder to finalize contruction documents.
| Esther Garubanda visited with the girls, and did some individual goal setting. She will keep connected with them and will report about their activities, school progress, and plans for the future. Esther is Beatrice's daughter, and a US HMI board member. It was important for the girls to spend time with such a role model.

| Kristina Krohn, a medical student from Minnesota, and her father, Tim Krohn, visited the Blue House because of their interest in and support of HMI.

| Bampata Paulino of Balex Builders, Eldad Karugaba of the Uganda HMI Board, and John Ocama of the US HMI Board, visit the site of the new Blue House. |

| Locally made bricks are stacked into a self-kiln, covered with mud, and fired in the openings, a typical process in the area. These bricks are for the new dorm. |

| Some of the girls survey a pool on the property where the new dorm will be built. |

| A lot of 7-foot logs + strong men + barbed wire + a big truck = a fence to secure the 9 acre property and the construction materials. |
