In summer 2009, all preparations were made for building the new Blue House dorm for up to 42 girls. US board members and HMI supporters visited the girls and the building site in Kazo, Uganda. On August 15, the boards approved construction to begin.

Visitors to the Blue House

| Dr. John Wathum-Ocama, of the US board, spent most of summer 2009 in Uganda on behalf of HMI. He checked on the girls' welfare, made connections with the local community, and facilitated the preconstruction process. He secured permits, contracted with a local builder, and visited the property with the architect and builder to finalize contruction documents.

| Esther Garubanda visited with the girls, and did some individual goal setting. She will keep connected with them and will report about their activities, school progress, and plans for the future. Esther is Beatrice's daughter, and a US HMI board member. It was important for the girls to spend time with such a role model.

| Kristina Krohn, a medical student from Minnesota, and her father, Tim Krohn, visited the Blue House because of their interest in and support of HMI.
